NOTHING IS EVER WASTED

ANDY PARKINSON aka ANDY POSTMAN
a jeweller, sculptor, painter and performance poet, Andy enjoys making work with unusual handcrafted elements. His signature style incorporates hot – knifed lines with jewel bright colours, wire and handcarved bead ornaments, mirrors set in a rainbow landscape, a wire construction of the green man laughing from a tree…Even broken bus shelter glass, wire from skips, babies discarded dummies and broken action men find new uses with a surreal twist ! Our garden has hidden corners where children can play bells and adults drum next to quoits, nature spirits and ramshead carvings. The local woods have secret bowers left for bolder spirits to explore. Andy is a survivor of the mental health user services, living with bi-polar affective mood swings and a memory damaged by ect. His creativity has proved an outlet for the “swings and roundabouts” of bi-polar and the film Insight in Mind features more of his work. All experiences and materials are grist to Andy s mill and an Aladdin s cave of treasure will be available at the show.

DEE FAIRCHILD
paints abstracts informed by a Taoist contemplation practice known as skywatching. Her canvasses are rich and pleasing layers; slides under a cosmic microscope showing the drift and dance of energy flows. Art for quantum physicists and nature mystics alike ! As a violence survivor with agoraphobia, she believes all experiences lead to a greater understanding of the universe and can strengthen the backbone in facing the world and choosing to stand for peace and justice. It is our own will to go forward that lights the path to a better life. The nothing to something machine can be run on energy harnessed from those bad experiences, and works it herself with art, allotmenteering and fundraising for avi. Paintings that achieve presence without imposition are part of unpicking the social injustice of 21st century life just as much as banners or websites. They invite an individual to know from their own core that global goodwill is the way forward, that space to feel is more important than a clutter of possessions.

50% of all proceeds are to go to ACTION VILLAGE INDIA S BALANCED FARMING PROJECT. This is an organic gardening scheme supporting people in Trivandrum, Kerala to become self-sufficient on their own small garden plots, growing food and medicines, with harvests to market for a small income. It is in partnership with KGSM, a memorial project for Mahatma Gandhi and his work to bring people out of poverty through equality and self reliance. The other 50% covers artists materials and costs of mounting the exhibition. The Art Organisation has very kindly waived its commission to make this possible, for which the artists and avi are very grateful.

MICK SCOTT (1957-2008)

Born in Ayrshire, Mick has spent most of his adult life in Nottingham.
He was an extremely gifted artist and musician: Passionate and uncompromising
with a profound sense for the unconventional. He once painted his garden - plants, hedges and all!
He always had time for others and his enthusiasm and quirkiness was an inspiration.
A well travelled man fascinated by other cultures, he had a particular fondness for Asia. His spirituality was rooted in eastern philosophy and this was evident in both his music and painting.
He was an outstanding individual who left his mark wherever he went.
