Liverpool Ropewalks Regeneration Art Project
THE META~CONCEPTUAL GALLERIES
Following on from our success with launching venues in the Ropewalks during 2006 Liverpool Biennial, TAO have agreed, with the landlord, further use of each premise through 2008 and are now launching RE-GEN-08, Liverpool's John Moore's University's Fine Art Degree Show
"Situated
in an extensive range of buildings ... (TAO)... has achieved an interplay of
context and creativity in Liverpool’s inner city.
The venues represent a union of culture and economic progress and community
through a cluster of exhibition sites, collectively forming Liverpool’s
comparable “Greenwich Village.”
Through the exhibition final year students have been able to experience a direct
professional group engagement with the city.
Earlier curriculum gallery practice has been brought into reality, a test for
future career aspiration.
This socio-professional encounter holds good learning pathways for future gallery
skills to be resolved.
Students are given a taste as professional artists in Liverpool’s rich
cultural environment.
The range of artwork is diverse and multi disciplinary, portraying both traditional
and contemporary practice and technology, generating a forum of presentation,
debate and discussion.
My thanks to TAO, who have been team players in the school’s concerted
efforts to realise and refurbish these site developments in less than 3 months."

Head of Fine Art

This 18th Century listed four-storey building, in the heart of the Ropewalks district and adjacent to Liverpool's China Town is our hub for artist activity in the city. The building has had a new lease of life and light (as windows had been boarded for over thirty years) and undergone a significant refit, and now offers hostel accomodation for visiting artists and members. 102 regularly hosts Liverpool's Super-Social (a network dinner meeting of local artists), Greg's life-drawing class 'The Art of Drawing UnConventionally', whilst exhibiting specific artworks, meetings and events.
